odd thomas movie
Odd Thomas was filmed back in 2011, but sat unreleased due to the film being tied up in the courts over a legal dispute.  The budget for Odd Thomas was $27 million.  In 2010, director Stephen Sommers and novelist Dean Koontz went to the American Film Market and raised the majority of the financing from pre-sales.  Two Out of Ten Prods. and Fusion films co-financed the remainder.  Visual effects company BUF also took an undisclosed equity stake in the pic through their production/financing shingle AngeleFine, for a share of the worldwide revenue.   Odd Thomas went into production without a domestic distributor.

Two Out of Ten & Fusion inked a deal with Outsource Media Group Fund and ABS Investment Group to pay $25 million for P&A expenses for the domestic release and an additional $10 million to refinance production loans.  The money never arrived and Two Out of Ten & Fusion sued the two companies for $35 million.  With the film tied up in litigation, no distributor would become attached in the US.  Odd Thomas did see a small release overseas in a few markets to all of $1.1 million and went straight to video everywhere else.

In 2013 the film went back onto the market for a US distributor and Odd Thomas was acquired for very little money by Image Entertainment, which has no muscle when it comes to a theatrical release.  It was released February 28, 2014 in the US, where Image Entertainment reported no gross or any theatrical information, including the number of theaters they booked.  The home video release was one month later and recorded domestic home video sales were $3 million.
