  1. Technically, Bee Movie counts. Going by the 55% domestic/40% overseas split, DreamWorks Animation would have seen back $134 million of its $150 million production budget, not including P&A costs.

  2. What about The Golden Compass? $180 million budget, $70.1 million domestic box office, $302 million overseas… that New Line didn’t see a dime of due to their selling off overseas distribution. Even Wikipedia cites it as the ‘final straw’ that led to WB absorbing NLC the following year.
